Climate change refers to the increasingly extreme variation of long-term average weather conditions worldwide. According to a 2021 report by the Centre for Environmental Rights there is no scientific doubt that the climate of southern Africa is becoming warmer.1 South Africa has been experiencing associated extreme climatic events such as droughts, floods, and heat waves, which have affected water and fuel sources, habitats, human health, and economic productivity.
