Response – 22nd November 2023 – World Children’s Day by Lois Law
World Children’s Day is celebrated annually on 20th November. It is a global initiative promoting children’s rights, safety, education, health, protection and happiness. World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This has become the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history and is in force in virtually all countries of the world, thus providing a common ethical and legal framework for the realization of children’s rights. The Convention recognizes the fundamental human dignity of all children and the urgency of ensuring their well-being and development.
