St Joseph’s Marist, Rondebosch delegation hosted on 7 September 2015
On the 7th of September 2015, we hosted a group of young students from St Joseph’s Marist School, Rondebosch, who had been on a visit to Parliament. Though their visit was relatively short, we managed to explain to them what the CPLO was about; talked about the importance of the involvement of the church and wider civil society, i.e. ordinary people, in the processes of Parliament and keeping Parliament in check; helped correct some misconceptions about the legislative process and the separation between government and Parliament. Finally, we also talked about the need for them as young people to see themselves as being prepared to take their part in Parliament and politics and bringing values of justice and the common good to those political institutions. Politics is also for good people, and not just for corrupt people.
